Clothes Go First
As the prices of everything from gasoline to food continues to rise, it should come as little surprise that clothing purchases have been the first things to go with the American people. Mind you, this in no way means that we’re not buying clothes; it just means that Americans, even the wealthier ones, are beginning to buy in wholesale clothing shops and discount clothing chains.
According to organicconsumers.org, “Low-price operators Costco Wholesale Corp., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and TJX Cos. reported better-than-expected sales…while traditional apparel chains J.C. Penney Co. and Limited Brands Inc. struggled.”
