Organic Skin Care!
No matter how strong a woman thinks she is there are always those days when we fall prey to the commercialized talk about aging and, basically, how it would be better for all involved if we could not succumb to it. Sometimes we feel the need to rush to our magnified mirrors – we all have one stashed away someplace, let’s be fair – and scrutinize our skin for the brown spots and crows-feet that mean the end is near.
Yes it is somewhat silly to get depressed or desperate about the inevitable aging process. However, there is nothing wrong with wanting to maintain our youthful appearances, and there is certainly enough proof that we should do everything possible to keep our faces - and skin in general – protected from the sun. Really, that sort of skincare regiment should be of the same importance-caliber as eating healthfully and exercising.
Even when we recognize the importance of our skin’s health, however, and we make that first move to go purchase some eye creams that will, hopefully, help with our skins staying power as well as combat those crows feet forming at our eyes, we tend to stop short. Skin care lines are expensive! Not to mention there is something a little nerve-wracking about applying to your face a product with as many non-pronounceable words and numbers as some face creams contain. If you wouldn’t eat foods that weren’t organic, why would you trust non-organic face creams?
Not as strange a question as it might seem at first glance. For, while you may be asking yourself, “Are there organic face creams?” and looking around at your neighbors incredulously I can assure you that there are organic skincare products and that they are just as good as those other products sold on department store shelves.
The company is called Arbonne and they have actually been around since the 1980’s although they never gained the mainstream popularity that some of their competitors enjoy. Sold rather like Avon make-up, where independent consultants showcase the skincare products to select groups of potential consumers, Arbonne provides high-quality products that serve everything from daily moisturizing routines to intensive anti-aging products.
I was lucky enough to get to go to an Arbonne Party, as they’re called, and our representative was a truly engaging woman who – as is standard with sales done in this manner – was an Arbonne-user herself and brought along products for each of the party-goers to try. As we were pampered with foot scrubs and eye-creams, it became obvious that these products are ostensibly the same as those polluting department store shelves, they felt the same on my hands, they immediately tightened my skin, they took care of my calloused toes.
Yet I felt better for using the products because I was aware that they were organic. I was aware that this Switzerland-based company had morals and a conscience. Indeed, part of the company’s credo reads as follows: “Preserving the planet’s precious, natural resources is an important part of the Arbonne philosophy and has been for 27 years. Long before regulations required the recycling of materials and eco-conscious manufacturing, Arbonne led the way by being an active proponent of recyclable packaging, no testing on animals, and a strict policy against the incorporation of animal products or by-products in our botanically-based formulas.”
Indeed, there is little to dislike about the products put forth by this company, and plenty to love. From the packaging – which is just as ecologically-sound as the contents – to the scrubs, lotions and creams themselves, Arbonne has put together a line that everyone is sure to love!
