Hormones in Your Milk?
Don’t worry my wary consumers, in spite of all worries that you may or may not have been having regarding the quality of the milk you drink and the honey you eat, a potentially poorly-chosen labeling effort has been dropped. According to organicconsumers.com, our favorite source for all things organic and ecology-related, “Pennsylvania officials have dropped plans to bar farmers from revealing whether or not milk hails from hormone-enhanced cows.”
This means that the agricultural department of Pennsylvania has since “issued new guidelines that allow dairies to label milk so that customers know if it was produced from cows pumped with recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) also known as recombinant bovine somatotropin (rBST)” which is great news for all of us who enjoy the calcium and delicious taste of milk, but don’t want our bodies to be polluted by that same frothy beverage.
Just goes to show you that you can never be too careful about what you put in your body and also shows that, if enough of us join together to speak out about what we want, or why we feel uncomfortable with any given suggestion or protocal, sometimes we can actually change an outcome.
