Organic Offers Path Into Farming
For all else that organic farming boasts - healthier food for the general populace, an eased conscience when one is out buying the fruits and vegetables that they choose to feed to their families, friends and loved ones and so much more - there is also a newer benefit that this farming offers. This benefit is the entranceway into the world of farming and all that can be achieved therein by those eager farmers trying to break into the business in a manner of speaking. As with all trades, the future of farming is severely damaged by a lack of young farmers trying to get into the business and make a go at starting their own farming business. Part of the problem, perhaps understandably, is that it is very expensive to start up a farming business and as such most young entrepreneurs simply do not have the start-up cash for make such a move do-able.
However some good news is that organic farming procedures can cut the costs that are normally associated with farming, offering hope to those itching to get into the agricultural business. According to organicconsumers.org, “even after compensating for an additional nine-hour per acre labor expense, the organic rotation showed a savings of $66/acre in input expenses. At an average of $250/acre machinery expense, the smaller farm saves $93,500 in machinery investment over the conventionally managed farm” which is indeed good news for those looking to start up a farm.
