Organic Food Goes to College
It has finally happened, the sale of organic foods to colleges has increased tremendously. Proponents of the organic foods industry might have thought this transformation would occur many years back especially with the reputations of some college students as the free-thinking, defy-the-Man types typified in movies of the 1960’s. However, it is the generation of students who came from elementary schools, middle schools and high schools that experienced bans on everything from cupcakes to sodas that is driving this organic shift on college campuses across the country.
Refreshingly, it is the nutritionally-aware students, not their parents or regulations put in place by the powers-that-be in governmental units that are pushing for more organic and locally-grown food. They are receiving these requests, much to their own delight as well as the delight of other proponents of healthy and organic living.
Schools all across the nation are offering students more healthy menu dining options including vegan dishes and sushi, and it is a move being embraced with open arms by students who were waiting for something just like this to come along - more healthy food options that are still tasty and good for the world.
