The United States Food and Drug Administration is continuing its campaign of censorship against herbal supplements and as a part of this campaign, the United States FDA has seized $71,000 worth of Charantea herbal supplements! This seizure took place last week and involved United States Marshals in a raid on the Fulllife Natural Options Company. Fulllife Natural Options, according to organicconsumers.com was accused by the FDA of “marketing an ‘unapproved drug’ due to the truthful marketing claims that accurately describe the blood sugar lowering effects of the product’s main ingredient: Bitter Melon fruits.”
The FDA insists that there is no such thing as an herb, food or a supplement that has any biological activity at all upon on the human body beyond providing calories. The FDA also insists that anyone who makes such a claim is considered to be in violation of the FDA’s authority and is therefore subject to the same sort of raid and seizure as was enacted on Fulllife Natural Options. In spite of what producers may call products, you should always be aware of products labeled as “drugs” since that description takes a rigorous approval process.  Anything that has not gone through that process is in direct violation of the FDA. Keep an eye out, and keep yourself safe!
