Help for Organic Farmers!
Farming is a tricky business; there can be little doubt of that. Any sort of natural disaster is obviously a severe problem for those who produce the fruits and vegetables that consumers come to depend upon and expect. Yet these same issues are even more detrimental when put into the context of organic farmers, who already have various aspects of nature working against them including the pests and bugs that swarm around crops without the repellents of pesticides and other poisons used by conventional farmers. The organic farmer is already at a disadvantage because he does not use these poisons and pesticides, but he also must battle other natural disasters when he chooses to grow his produce much earlier than the conventional farmers.
In an attempt to help ease some of these concerns with regards to organic farming, and to offer assistance and tips to those organic farmers who want to preserve what they can in the event of some sort of natural disaster, the Farmers’ Legal Action Group, Inc. (FLAG) has written an article, entitled “Disaster Readiness and Recovery: Legal Considerations for Organic Farmers.” After all, the concerns facing these organic farmers are different than conventional farmers’ concerns, tending to be so specific to the organic farmer himself, so here’s hoping this article will serve to be a real benefit!
