Organic Foods Healthier but More Expensive!
A survey whose results were released on Monday, October 8, 2007, staged that organic food is seen by most consumers as being safer and better for the environment as well as healthier, but over all it is also seen as being much more expensive than conventionally-grown produce. To be sure, this is true and indeed it has never been denied or seen in any other light, one would not think, and yet this is still a rather strong deterrent to people who may want to go organic but simply cannot afford to. Or, for those people who may have the money but would choose to send it on other things, since they can still eat “healthfully” in terms of eating fruits and vegetables, even if their chosen produce may also contain pesticides and chemicals utilized in that growth process.
This Harris Interactive poll took into account the opinions of 2,392 adults, all of whom were surveyed online between September 11 and September 18, and the results indicate the number of people buying organic food “regularly are still a small minority, but a growing one, and most of them overwhelmingly believe organic food tastes better and is worth the extra cost” according to organic consumers.com. Thus, while consumers who are able to afford and enjoy the organic produce do swear by the process, we simply must work harder to show other consumers how organic produce is worth the extra cost, at a great benefit to their own health and well-being.
