Irish Farmers Paid To Go Organic!
It has been announced that Irish farmers who convert their land to use for organic crop production will be eligible to receive thousands of euros for their efforts. This compensation comes under a new plan that was recently announced by the Irish government which is known as the Organic Farming Scheme. While the name itself almost sounds a little too-simple-to-be-real, the idea behind the initiative isĀ good one. The program is designed to encourage producers to respond actively to the increasing market demand for organic foods, plain and simple. This is indeed a strong demand, as so many patrons are excited at the prospect of having great new organic foods to enjoy in their daily lives.
This measure is co-founded by the European Union and by the Irish taxpayers and it will allow for organic farmers to receive funding without being a part of the Rural Environment Protection Scheme (REPS) which was developed as a different program shortly before the Organic Farming Scheme. These organic farmers in Ireland will not be able to qualify for up to 21,650 euros during the conversion period of turning their farming land into organic farming land, and to receive 15,680 euros per year once they have achieved full organic status.
